1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using OCR.chat ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to all of the terms and conditions, you may not access or use the Service. The Service is operated by OCR.chat and provides optical character recognition, document conversion, table and math extraction, translation, and related AI-powered text-extraction tools.

2. Service Description

OCR.chat extracts text, tables, and equations from images and PDFs and exports them as plain text, Markdown, Word, searchable PDF, CSV, or JSON in over 100 languages. The Service operates on a page-based billing system: each page you process consumes pages from your balance. A free trial and free monthly allowance are available without purchase.

3. Account Registration

You can try the Service without an account, but certain features require registration. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. Your API token is tied to your account and must not be shared publicly. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

4. Pages and Billing

Pages are the unit used to access paid processing on OCR.chat.

• Pages are non-transferable between accounts
• Purchased pages never expire
• Subscription pages are added on your billing date each cycle
• Pages are deducted based on the number of pages processed and the engine tier used
• Failed jobs do not consume pages
• We reserve the right to adjust pricing with 30 days notice

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Process documents you do not own or have no right to process
• Extract or repurpose copyrighted material without authorization
• Upload content that is illegal, harmful, or violates the rights or privacy of others
• Process personal or sensitive data without a lawful basis to do so
• Circumvent rate limits, page quotas, or access controls
• Use automated tools to scrape, overload, or disrupt the Service
• Resell or redistribute the Service or its output as your own product without authorization

6. Your Documents and Privacy

You retain full ownership of the files you upload and the text we extract from them. We do not claim any rights over your documents or output. We process your files solely to perform the OCR you request, and uploaded files and their results are deleted automatically from our servers shortly after processing. We never sell or share your documents, and we do not use your content to train models without your explicit consent.

7. Accuracy of Results

OCR is probabilistic. Extracted text, tables, equations, and translations may contain errors, especially with low-quality scans, handwriting, complex layouts, or rare languages. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any output before relying on it. The Service is not a substitute for professional review of legal, medical, financial, or other critical documents.

8. API Usage

API access is subject to rate limits and page quotas based on your plan. Your API token must be kept secure and must not be embedded in client-side code or shared publicly. We reserve the right to revoke tokens that are misused. API responses are provided "as is" and availability is not guaranteed; we will make reasonable efforts to maintain uptime but are not liable for service interruptions.

9. Subscriptions and Cancellation

Subscriptions renew automatically on the billing date. You may cancel at any time from your account page. Upon cancellation you keep access to your plan features until the end of the current billing period, and any remaining purchased pages are preserved and can be used indefinitely. We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on subscription plans.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that OCR output will be accurate or complete.

11. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall OCR.chat be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service, including loss of data or profit. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes by email or via a notice on the website. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
